Question Tag

QUESTION TAG:
A question tag or tag question is a grammatical structure in which a declarative statement or an imperative is turned into a question by adding an interrogative fragment (the "tag"). The term "question tag" is generally preferred by British grammarians, while their American counterparts prefer "tag question".

Ø  Question tag is made with auxiliary and pronoun of the subject.
Ø  Negative auxiliary verb is changed into positive and vice versa.
Ø   If there is no auxiliary in the sentence then appropriate forms of auxiliary ‘do’ is used i.e. ‘does’ for the singular in present tense, ‘do’ for the plural in present tense and ‘did’ for both singular and plural in past tense.
Ø   Plural auxiliary and pronoun is used for the sentence beginning with someone, everyone and no one.
Ø   ‘will you?’ is used for imperative sentences and ‘shall we?’ is used for the sentences beginning with ‘’Let’s’’.
