Causatives

CAUSITIVES:  (have, get, make)
A causative form is, in linguistics, an expression of an agent causing or forcing a patient to perform an action or to be in a certain condition.

1.      Subject + have/get + object (thing) + V3
2.      Subject + have + object (person) + V1
3.      Subject + get + object (person) + to + V1
4.      Subject + make + object (person) + V1

Important points
1. Get is possible instead of have, usually in informal spoken English.
I'm going to get my car fixed tomorrow.
2. We can also use to have someone do something to talk about giving instructions or orders -- more common in American English.
I had my assistant type the report.
I'll have my lawyer look into it.
